Privacy policy
The short version
Flight Whisperer only keeps what it needs to tell you when a plane is overhead: an approximate location and a way to send your browser a notification. There are no accounts, names or email addresses. Unsubscribing deletes it all.
What we store
- Your location, rounded to about 1 km (two decimal places), plus a label such as "Current location" or the city you picked. Used only to match aircraft passing near you.
- A push subscription: the address your browser provides so we can send it notifications. It doesn't identify you personally.
- A random device token, kept in your browser's local storage, so this device can manage its own alerts. It isn't a cookie and isn't used for tracking.
Third-party services
- Open-Meteo receives the text you type in the city search, to look up places. Using your device's location instead skips this.
- Your browser's push service (run by Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on your browser) delivers notifications to your device.
- OpenSky Network supplies flight positions. Your data isn't sent to them.
- Flightradar24 opens when you tap a notification, and their own privacy policy applies there.
- Cloudflare hosts this site and provides privacy-friendly Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your data.
- We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
Deleting your data
Press Turn off & delete my data on the main page. This removes your push subscription and deletes your saved location and device token from our server straight away.
